When Kick City Sports Park first opened it was just like every other indoor center in the Northwest. Players would come and play their game and then leave to go grab a bite to eat and a beer somewhere else. This was not the social experience that the new owners were looking to instill in their patrons when they bought Kick City in 2006.
The new owners of Kick City Sports Park wanted to create a total social and sporting experience for the communities of Springfield and Eugene so they decided to keep building and add on the soccer shop, pub, new seating areas and all new glass dasherboards. Since then the atmosphere at Kick City Sports Park has been completely transformed into a place where players, teams and fans can come to gather before and after games and to kindly heckle their friends on the field. We are also working on adding more service and seating in the areas between the two fields.
Now when you walk into The Pub or step on to the balcony any night of the week you will see a wide mix of college students, parents, kids, friends, teenagers and grandparents all in one area for the same reason, to enjoy the game of soccer and the atmosphere that Kick City provides.
You can’t tell me that you have never noticed the difference between playing in a game when the balcony is completely full along with the viewing areas and the pub versus when it is empty. It makes a difference. When there are lots of fans/observers on the balcony and in the pub the game on the field becomes more lively and more engaging. Players tend to play harder and have a more enjoyable experience.
This is what Kick City is all about, it’s not about just playing a game once a week and then leaving, it is about hanging with your team, watching the next few games, getting to cheer/heckle on your friends and getting to have an overall social experience with your friends unlike any other.
We have been told by multiple customers that this the only place in town that they can truly hang out with their friends, their kids and other patrons in a relaxed environment while being able to watch a fun game and never once have to worry about the weather!
With that being said we feel like we have done what we set out to do which was to provide a unique social and sporting experience for ALL of our customers not just one group. We are continually brainstorming ideas that would make it better for all of our customers and we are looking at options for expanding the business in the future.
Regardless of what changes we foresee in the future we will always put our all of our customers first and we always want to keep in mind that we are not just a soccer facility we are a community asset that wants to provide our community with an excellent facility that provides the optimal social experience also.
Yours in Soccer,
Megan
